Michael, Thank you for your insight into this matter. I just recently had to drive from Alabama to Texas with my uncle to pick up my Dad from a Texas hospital. He had become disoriented and just kept driving. Thankfully, the hospital cantacted us. I'm just afraid that it may happen again and noone will contact us. This web-site has given me confidence that we wil be able to find him should this happen again. Keep up the good work and may God bless you. Bethany

Michael, very informative sight. It is nice to see someone attempting to close the gap between segregated groups to incorporate "teamwork", a new concept to some :). I am co-founder of a new search and rescue group in Colorado (Adams County, specifically). Our county has had - shall we say - less than positive experiences with an older group. We are trying to work as close with the County OEM as we possibly can. The Sheriff is next on the list, once we have trained dogs (summer, 2004). Please keep at it. The information is great! Thanks, Michael, Vickie Weigel Field Support, Inc. Search & Rescue Brighton, Colorado

Rob and Andy, Thank you for your comments. Just for info we are well served in my Force area with the Dartmoor Rescue Group and Exmoor Search and Rescue. Later this year we have a new group, the Cornwall Rescue Group going live. Our in Force training programme is certainly bearing fruits too with much earlier callouts and responses, which is undoubtedly leading to earlier resolution of incidents. Mike

Feel free to look at the ALSAR website at www.alsar.org.uk or the SEBEV SAR website at www.sebev.co.uk about some of the work in lowland SAR.
